Lead Abatement

Lead paint is common in buildings from before 1978 and becomes a hazard the moment demolition disturbs it. Like asbestos, it is identified first and remediated before the structure is touched, handled through ALLIED Wrecking Industrial Services.

What the job covers

  • Identification of lead-based paint and lead-containing components
  • Assessment of which components need remediation
  • Controlled removal with appropriate containment
  • Documented disposal
  • Coordination with the demolition sequence
  • Work carried out through ALLIED Wrecking Industrial Services

What affects the quote

  • Age of the property — pre-1978 construction is the usual trigger
  • How many components are affected and their condition
  • Whether the building is occupied
  • Whether testing has already been done
  • How remediation fits into the wider demolition schedule

Every job is quoted after we understand the site. Photographs of what needs to come down, and of how a machine would reach it, get you an accurate number faster than a description will.

Common questions

Before you call

How do I know if there is lead?

Testing. Age is a strong indicator — pre-1978 is the line most people work to — but only sampling confirms it.

Can lead and asbestos be handled together?

Yes, and on older buildings they frequently are. Both go through the same sister company, so the surveys and the remediation are planned as one piece of work.
