Building Wrecking
Building wrecking is full structural demolition — taking an entire building down rather than stripping it out. The size of the structure decides the equipment, and the surroundings decide the method, which is why two buildings of the same square footage can be very different jobs.
What the job covers
- Complete structural demolition to grade
- Concrete, block, steel and timber-framed structures
- Utility disconnection confirmed before demolition begins
- Protection of adjacent structures and shared walls
- Foundations and slabs removed where specified
- Full haul-off, with material separated for recycling where practical
What affects the quote
- Height, footprint and construction type of the structure
- How close the nearest building, road or power line sits
- Whether anything adjoining has to stay standing and undamaged
- Hazardous materials identified in the survey
- Where the debris goes and how far it has to travel
Every job is quoted after we understand the site. Photographs of what needs to come down, and of how a machine would reach it, get you an accurate number faster than a description will.
Common questions
Before you call
How close can you work to the building next door?
Close, but it changes the method — shared walls and tight setbacks usually mean working in smaller bites with more hand demolition and more protection. It is one of the first things worth looking at on site.
What has to happen before you start?
Utilities disconnected and confirmed, permits in place, and a hazardous materials survey if the building's age warrants one. Those three things set the start date more often than our schedule does.
